Dorset - Lulworth Cove
Back Up Next
14th April 2011

Durdle Door is a world famous geological wonder, with its massive rock arch, set right on the Jurassic Coast just along the coast path from Lulworth Cove.
The cove was formed 10,000yrs ago by the awesome powers of a river and the sea.

We did a 2mile walk up towards Durdle Door and back and the views were just stunning!!!

Durdle Door, the extraordinary rock arch!

We set off on our 2mile walk

Looking back at the view below

Almost there Dylan....

....that's what Alwyn kept telling us.

Wow!! beautiful secluded sandy beach

Daring steep steps to the cove!!

I go down with real care!

Nearly there....

Heading downwards for some rest!

Lulworth Cove - definitely a place to visit again

Cerne Abbas
Our journey towards Yeovil led us to Cerne Abbas, the Giant Man or the 'rude man' cut into the English chalk downlands.

Who is he? Some say he represents the Roman God, Hercules and is 1,500yrs old but others suggest that this giant is a caricature of Oliver Cromwell and is only 350 yrs old.

Cerne Abbas, the 'rude giant' is about 180ft high.

In Yeovil we found a really nice Indian Restaurant called The Viceroy as we were pining for some hot food!! The waiter was a bit too friendly!
